Hello, my name is Amit Uttamchandani.

I am a Barbadian.

I'm also the owner and operator of this

domain and website. Since 1996, this site has been

providing basic information on the island of Barbados.

It is, by far, one of the most basic websites

on Barbados that you will ever find as you travel

The Intertubes.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of other sources of

info on Barbados. Many of them flashy, well written, well

researched and probably well funded too! Bajan.Org is

clearly not one of those sites (yet?).

This site is, and has always been, a hobby of mine.

As such, I work on it while I can and make no apologies

for its condition. It is a labour of love, not profit.

For 2011, the purpose of the site, once again, is to

provide basic, no frills information on the island,

but this time, it will be from a Barbadian's

perspective. Mine.

As such, beware of rampant subjectivity and bias. After all,

it's all relative, isn't it? What's good for the goose is

most likely not always good for the gander. Tastes vary.

This guide isn't endorsed by anyone. It's unofficial.

Do not expect in-depth fact checking and research.

Use it at your own risk. You have been warned.

That said, in writing the sections of this site,

I attempted to provide the reader with the

essential stuff. Stuff that I myself would like

to know if I was travelling to a country for the

first time and wanted an unvarnished, raw guide.

So there you have it (or, you're about to have it).
